Paying overseas in a foreign currency
Money sent overseas
Sending in U.S. Dollars or in a foreign currency
If you are not sure which currency the receiving account uses, send the payment in U.S. Dollars. As a rule, the person receiving the money gets it sooner when the payment is sent in a foreign currency than when it is sent in U.S. dollars.
- Payments usually reach the recipient's bank within two business days.
- Sending money this way is safe and convenient.
You can also ask for a payment to be sent in person at any of our branch locations.
Checks from another country
The best way to make a cross-border payment, and to be sure it is collected, is to send it as an international payment. If you are paid from overseas by a foreign check instead, we can help you process it on your behalf.
